Conditional Payment Do’s and Don’ts – Lessons from Experience

Patrick Czuprynski, JD, MSCC, CMSP, will walk you through Traditional Medicare, Part C and Part D collection processes while discussing real life scenarios and potential options available for a company or person facing collection of conditional payments. The audience should gain an understanding of the various ways conditional payments can be collected and options available regarding disputes or strategy should Medicare or other plans seek collection based upon the Medicare Secondary Payer Act.

1) Understand, depending on the circumstances, there are multiple ways to minimize a Medicare reimbursement request (waiver, direct appeal, reopen request)

2) Understand the difference in collection processes between Traditional Medicare, Part C and D

Patrick Czuprynski is an Illinois licensed attorney and Medicare Set-Aside Consultant Certified with substantial experience in the areas of workers’ compensation litigation and Medicare Secondary Payer compliance. Patrick has handled hundreds of claims in various jurisdictions dealing with Medicare Secondary Payer Compliance issues including, but not limited to: conditional payment negotiations, Medicare Set-Aside submissions and redetermination requests, settlement contract and release negotiation, and Section 111 compliance.
